Job Overview Atrium Health is seeking skilled Mammography Technologists to join our Radiology team. Job Summary: Under the supervision of a radiologist, this position involves performing mammographic procedures using proficient techniques and adhering to radiation safety practices to produce high-quality examinations. Key Responsibilities: Verify patient identity and validate proof of identification. Review patient medical history and correlate prior mammograms to ensure accurate examination performance. Acquire digital images and recognize factors affecting image quality, display, archiving, and retrieval. Evaluate technical image quality and consult with a radiologist as needed. Assist radiologists during invasive procedures and adhere to sterile technique when assembling necessary supplies. Report malfunctioning equipment to the department supervisor and perform troubleshooting and minor repair procedures under clinical engineering direction. Maintain accurate patient records, including completing orders correctly, charging exams and supplies, and verifying correct exam transmission to PACS. Physical Requirements: This role demands moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. It requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting, as well as adapting to varying temperatures and humidity levels while following radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation. Education, Experience, and Certifications: The successful candidate will be a graduate of an accredited two-year AMA and ARRT-approved program in Radiologic Technology, having met federal mammography training requirements specified in the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 (MQSA). Advanced certification in Mammography through ARRT and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are also required.
