Overview A position exists for an MRI Technologist I at Atrium Health. Job Description: The successful candidate will perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, operating MRI scanners and associated equipment with proficiency. Equipment includes scanner, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, oxygen and suction equipment, patient transport, and monitoring equipment. Key Responsibilities: Examine requests and verify orders on assigned patients, referring discrepancies to radiologists. Properly identify patients using two identifiers, assist them during procedures, and document information on worksheets. Interview patients for medical histories, review electronic records, and record pertinent clinical history. Assume responsibility for exams from beginning to completion of dictated results. Prepare and administer IV contrast according to departmental protocols. Evaluate image quality, consult with radiologists if necessary, and recognize abnormal anatomy. Perform basic patient care functions, inform nursing personnel of changes in patient conditions, and initiate life support measures when necessary. Assist physicians during invasive procedures, practice sterile technique, and follow infection control policies. Operate radiology computer systems, enter orders, and charge procedures/supplies. Maintain a neat and orderly workspace, clean areas, and restock supplies. Requirements: This position requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting are expected during normal operation. The employee may be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day. Education and Certifications: A graduate of an accredited two-year AMA-approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology is required. ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology and advanced registry in MRI are also required within one year of hire. CPR certification is mandatory.
